Frequently asked questions

How do I turn an hourly rate into a yearly salary? +

Multiply the hourly rate by your weekly hours, then by 52. At 37.5 hours a week, £15 an hour is £15 x 37.5 x 52 = £29,250 a year.

How much of my hourly pay do I keep? +

It depends on your yearly total. The first £12,570 is tax-free; above that you pay 20% income tax and 8% National Insurance until the higher-rate threshold (2026/27). The table shows the exact figure for each rate.

Does this include holiday pay? +

The figures assume you are paid for 52 weeks, which is the case for employees with paid holiday. If you are paid only for weeks worked, use the pro-rata calculator.
