Gross salary you need · per year
to take home €36,000 a year after tax and contributions
Working backwards from net pay
Tax is calculated from gross to net, so reversing it needs a search. The calculator tests gross salaries until the take-home pay matches your target, using the same engine as the main calculator.
Why it is not a simple percentage
Tax credits, the €44,000 standard rate band and the USC bands mean your gross-to-net ratio changes with salary. A fixed percentage would be wrong at most levels.
Include your pension
Set a pension percentage first; it changes how much gross pay is needed for the same take-home figure.
